Reymond Lise is a Toronto-based interdisciplinary neurodivergent queer artist. He studied Cross-Disciplinary Art with a specialization in Life Studies at OCAD U, exploring drawing and painting, printmaking, natural pigments, photography, photomicrography, found object, sculpture, installation, videography, creative writing, and performance art. Coming from an economically disadvantaged background, Lise makes art out of whatever is readily available. This resourcefulness, in combination with an ever-growing knowledge base of anatomy, astronomy, botany, chemistry, ecology, histology, marine biology, mycology, paleontology, physics, and zoology, has led them to create a large body of work that touches upon themes of personal identity, queerness, transformation, mental health, spirituality, sentience, environmentalism, growth and decay, ephemerality, and anti-capitalism. Utilizing an interdisciplinary approach to problem-solving with a deep appreciation for the minutiae of the natural world, Lise synthesizes artistic and scientific research methodologies into a broad, multifaceted practice that marries the two fields in a uniquely engaging way.
