Mónika Galántai is an artist of Polish–Hungarian heritage, born in Baja. From an early age, drawing and making served as a quiet refuge—a way to process emotion and return to herself. Although her creative impulses were set aside during her university and early career years, they re-emerged with renewed force after she moved abroad over a decade ago. Since then, art has become a meditative practice: a space for solitude, presence, and emotional clarity. Working primarily with black ink, Galántai creates intricate, time-intensive drawings that reflect her inner landscape and ongoing process of introspection. While ink remains her foundation, her time in London—where she studied oil painting and screen printing at Putney School of Art and Design—opened new pathways into colour, allowing her to expand her visual language while maintaining the precision of her line work. Her public artistic journey began in 2023, when her work was submitted to exhibitions without her knowledge—an act that became a turning point, encouraging her to step forward and share her practice more openly. Since then, she has exhibited internationally, including in London, Budapest, and Berlin. Her recent highlights include being shortlisted for ArtEvol 2025 at the Saatchi Gallery and participating in the 105th Annual Open Exhibition `of the Society of Graphic Fine Arts at the Mall Galleries. Today, Galántai lives and works between London and Budapest. Her practice continues to explore presence, connection, and the cyclical nature of life—inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and reconnect with themselves and the world around them.
