YOUTH ponders about the idealization of youth in culture & the concept where we break from our childhood. No-one survives this confusing time without breaking and bleeding, before we move on to the next phase of our lives. The work itself is large on purpose. Youth is where our ego is at large as we announce to the world who we are, yet the soft colors and flowers represent the fleeting time frame where life itself seems to be at is loudest and largest. When we still dare to dream big; before the society tries it's best to tame us. For some it succeeds. The red triangles repsents the stigmatization that occurs, when we don't fit into a mold or we break a little more than others in this powerful, yet so fragile time on our lives. Red triangles in this case, were inspired by marking gay people with triangles in nazi germany to represent the stigma that some of us face for being who we are in a world that is not welcome for everyone, and we finally begin to understand that.
