This is the third sculpture from my "Recycled Souls" series, made entirely from paper, carboard and some recycled canvas and beads. She is a being of purpose and radiant awareness, knowing well her own beauty, her splendor, her boundless power. Before her, no obstacle dares to stand. Her name is Idalia — it means “Behold, the Sun!” — a symbol of the beauty that dwells within thought itself. Almost every part of her is crafted from paper, cardboard, or papier-mache – from the had to the the time-capsule-like body resting on a wooden circle base. She also carries several recycled decorative elements, such as hemp twine, wooden sticks, felt ribbons, and a colorful denim corset reimagined from the upper part of one of my favorite sneakers
