Tertulla is the third sculpture in my „Recycled Souls” series. Almost every part of her is crafted from paper, cardboard, or papier-mache – from the had to the the time-capsule-like body resting on a wooden circle base. She also carries several recycled decorative elements, such as hemp twine, wooden sticks, felt ribbons, and a colorful denim corset reimagined from the upper part of one of my favorite sneakers. For a playful detail, some leaves and flowers in her headpiece are made from the pages of an original 1902 music score. Tertulla reflects the idea that every fragment of the past can be reborn into something new, carrying both memory and transformation. representing the relationship between the human form and nature, through cycles of decay, dissolution, and renewal. She reminds me of a world where balance matters, like a quiet call to slow down, to breath, to remeber and restore what we have broken.
