- Dora Stork
- Dora Stork is a Hungarian contemporary artist whose practice explores the transformative nature of matter. Working primarily with encaustic and shellac burn techniques, she merges ancient materials with contemporary abstraction. Her process is both analytical and intuitive—pigments, wax, and fire interact like living elements, forming structures born of heat and dissolution. Originally trained as an economist and cyberneticist, Stork approaches painting as a dialogue between system and spontaneity, where every reaction becomes a visual record of energy. Her works reflect on transformation and permanence—how light and fire can both destroy and create form. Through layering, combustion, and re-solidification, she captures the moment when motion freezes into substance. Her paintings have been exhibited in Hungary, Austria, France, Belgium, and the United Kingdom, including recent participations the Golden Duck Gallery’s international shows in France, and in Vienna. Each work carries a rhythm of rebirth—a quiet resonance between chaos and control, reminding us that even within material decay, light persists.
