I was born in St. Petersburg and was always surrounded by old paintings and stucco, visiting museums, ballet and philharmonic from the age of 6. However a true passion for art began after moving to England. Art in English school and college with a less academical approach opened a very deep emotional connection that started my personal journey. However I devoted myself to art much later after the university, when I began to personify my feelings towards the world and people around me through painting and got completely submerged in it. Artist Statement My goal is not to achieve accuracy and realism, but to convey the feeling of the beauty and colours that I see in the anatomical structure of a person and their energy. For most works, the image and color solutions come through insight, intuitively, directly on the canvas, without preliminary sketches, so that my decisions and brushstrokes are controlled only by my inner feelings at that moment. This is why I prefer to use slow drying medium such as oil paint and dry pastels, using my fingers to connect with the paint and slowly create an image from layers, sculpting the shapes of the face and body, and perhaps the soul.
