Cube II is the second painting from the series "Cubes in Nature," discovered by Bodo in the protected wetland region of the Danube River. Upon completion of the new highway construction, many concrete cubes, excavated from the river's channel and replaced with new ones, were left abandoned at the site. The supervisory team of the region employed them as barriers to obstruct unlawful trespassing between the primary channel and the forested area. They provide shelter for small animals or refuge for insects during the hot summer. The artist found it important to contextualize these cubes through art and bring awareness to abandoned material left after construction sites within less occupied or protected areas. Compared to the painting Cube I, this work uses brighter colors, emphasizing a utopia where such colors appear neither naturally in nature nor intentionally on concrete cubes, because the cubes are meant to blend into the area naturally.
