Artist Statement With my paintings I hope to convey the fascination with plants around us, and to remind about the fast-changing world and the value of all living things. Artist Biography • Akimtseva Olga was awarded the SBA Award in the category "Exhibiting Excellence in Watercolor" at the international exhibition SBA Plantae 2024 (SBA – the Society of Botanical Artists, UK). • After experiencing significant stress in the financial industry for more than 25 years, she made the decision in 2021 to transition away from that field and dedicate herself to botanical painting. • She graduated with distinction from the Distance Learning Diploma course of the Society of Botanical Artists (UK). She is also member of SBA (Society of Botanical Artists, UK), ASBA (American Society of Botanical Artists),SABA (Society of Artists of Botanical Art, Russia). • She was born in Russia, but living in Serbia. • Precision in her work, attention to details, combined with love of drawing and interest in gardening led to a passion for botanical painting. Over two years, Olga took part in 20 collective exhibitions of botanical art, incl. organized in Russia, Great Britain, Thailand, Serbia and Taiwan. • At present, Olga is working in the technique of multi-layered watercolour. • She is particularly attracted to plants because of the idea of them changing as they grow; the key point of her works is preserving plants’ transient beauty in her paintings.
