“Farewell” explores the process of letting go as an act of emotional closure and continuation. At the centre of the work is a continuous written text, conceived as a visual representation of the act of writing in order to say goodbye. The uninterrupted flow of words suggests that farewell is not necessarily a single, definitive moment, but a process through which an experience is articulated, processed and eventually left behind. The continuous text reflects the movement of thought during this process: one writes, remembers, addresses what is being left behind, and ultimately continues forward. Its uninterrupted character is intentional, the writing does not stop at the moment of farewell, but continues beyond it, suggesting the continuation of life after an ending. In this sense, the act of writing becomes both a form of addressing the past and a means of moving through it. Placed over the written text, the crossword functions as a visual and conceptual closure. Its structure interrupts and simultaneously contains the continuous flow of the writing, transforming what precedes it into something that has been concluded and enclosed. The crossword can therefore be understood as a symbolic mechanism of resolution, a final act that gives form to the process of saying goodbye. The relationship between the flowing text and the structured crossword establishes a tension between movement and closure. While the writing represents the ongoing emotional process of letting go, the crossword marks the point at which that process becomes resolved. Together, they suggest that farewell does not signify the end of life or experience, but rather the completion of one chapter and the possibility of continuing beyond it. Through this relationship between text, structure and gesture, Farewell considers the act of saying goodbye as a necessary part of transformation. To write is to acknowledge; to finish is to accept; and to continue is to move forward.
