Inspired by the figure of Hermes, a symbol in mythology of communication as the overcoming of barriers, I chose to depict his headdress resting on a simple coat stand.
The absence of the god transforms the object into a silent sign: something that has lost its function. The contrast between the symbolic value of the headdress and the simplicity of its support brings it closer to everyday reality.
What emerges is the idea of suspended communication, as if Hermes had come to a halt. An image that suggests a difficulty of the present, in which dialogue seems to break off rather than create connections.
