I work primarily in oil on canvas, focusing on intimate studies of botanical forms and still life. My paintings concentrate on close-up compositions that isolate a single subject, allowing color and form to do the work of meaning. I am drawn to moments of quiet transition — petals losing their brightness, surfaces softening, color shifting as light passes. These are not metaphors but observable events I want to present: how small changes in hue and edge convey age, memory, and the materiality of a living thing. My influences range from botanical illustration to modern colorists; I respond to those traditions by slowing them down and reducing visual noise so subtleties register. Across the body of work, the finished paintings present a study of time and surface: they reveal how delicate structures hold traces of their own becoming and unmaking. They ask viewers to look closely and to notice the small shifts that describe duration.
