This work explores the myth of Icarus from a symbolic and personal perspective.
His wings, marked by holes, suggest traces of melting wax – the consequence of approaching the sun and ignoring the advice of his father, Daedalus. They are the sign of a dream taken too far, of courage, but also of human fragility.
The holes in the body form the symbol of vertical infinity – a representation of the desire to reach something higher than our condition. It is not just physical flight, but an inner aspiration: the freedom to dream, even when the world seems to fall apart.
This sculpture does not only speak of falling, but also of the courage to try.
Whatever the meaning we choose, the story remains enchanting in its primary, unplasticized sense, in which what exalts Icarus is the dream of freedom, held under the fragile wings of the dreamer and defended at the cost of his life.
