When the Light Does Not Fade

Elka Veselinova (E. V.)

Elka Veselinova (E.V.) is a mixed-media artist whose practice is dedicated to dismantling the literal and metaphorical boundaries of the traditional canvas. Her work directly explores the dialogue between confinement and liberation, using dimensional relief techniques to allow nature to reclaim its freedom. Painted elements physically shatter and spill past their structured frames, refusing to be contained. Whether depicting a sea wave bursting through constraints, or a genuine piece of volcanic stone from Vesuvius, kept by the artist for over thirteen years, acting as a living fragment of history, her canvases literally and figuratively "break the frame," inviting the viewer into a space where nature and human spirit transcend imposed limitations. Veselinova’s contribution to the No Limits exhibition represents a profound exploration of liberation, resilience, and elemental power. Her technique challenges the static nature of the flat canvas by introducing distinct 3D reliefs and authentic natural artifacts, ensuring that every piece carries its own physical truth and history.
